Strange School (Oneida District #3) has existed in its current brick building since 1879. This public, "one-room" elementary school serves as a School of Choice for the Eaton Intermediate School District. While traditional values of rural education still guide the learning here, our students are also making use of the latest technologies to expand their experiences and enrich the educational process.
More detailed information about the history of the school can be found in the book "Oneida School District #3", by Ronald Brunger. The following quote from the book describes the first Oneida school in the early 1830's: "The first school district on Oneida was organized in the Canada Settlement, and a log school house was built in 1838 or 1839, on the northwest corner of what is now called Strange Highway and South Hartel Road (M-100)."
