Anna Burman, Secretary
Hello! I am Anna Burman and I joined the board in July 2015. I am a former student of Strange School and I am privileged to be able to serve as a board member now.
Strange School is a unique school and has been part of the community since 1879. It is a landmark for lots of us! My family moved to the area in 1908 and my great grandfather, grandfather and father have served on the school board. Each of them sent their children to Strange School. My grandmother was a substitute teacher from time to time. It is an honor to be a part of my family's involvement with the school, and part of the school's exceptional legacy.
My brothers and sisters and I attended Strange. I went there from kindergarten to fifth grade (1990-1996). I enjoyed the family atmosphere at Strange. For me, a shy child, it meant a lot to know my teachers and classmates cared about me and each other. It created an environment to learn and pursue academics while being comfortable. I was also challenged to learn and explore concepts and to read a lot!
I live in the area and have watched the school itself change with the times. The brick building has been maintained and its old architecture is stunning. The playgrounds have been updated and changed over the years. The addition of the computer building shows Strange is current with today's ever expanding technologies and advancements. It is exciting to be part of this school, with its history and roots in the community and its movement into the future.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve!
